What is Responsive web Design?

Responsive web design solves the problem of having to build multiple websites to work on mobile phones and PCs. Many modern websites are responsive, and this website is one of them. If you resize your browser window, you’ll see the screen elements rearrange and resize themselves. The contents realigns and the images and text shrink to better fit smaller screen widths.

I don't make separate sites for mobiles, tablets, laptops and PCs, I make one site because in most cases, one site is all you'll need.

Why it's important

If your business sells directly to public, what will they be using to find and look at your website? Chances are it will be a laptop, tablet or smart phone not a PC. Mobiles are being use more and more frequently to access the web and if your website appears on a mobile like a tiny version of the way it looks on a PC then you might have a problem.

If you sell mainly business to business, then responsive design may not be crucial yet but if you sell to tradesmen, then you'll know just how important their mobiles are to them and a website that comes up on a smart phone quickly and clearly without lots of scrolling and enlarging, might be just what they're looking for.
